It's amazing that another year has almost gone by and Christmas will be here next week! I hope it's a special one for all of you who read this.
This is our second year in this home and my decorating is similar to last year, except for the "theme" of the tree. I found these ornaments back in September while shopping in Dallas, and decided to try to find more things to go with that color theme. It wasn't too difficult to find things that matched!
So, Here's the tree. My Mom and the girls did most of the actual decorating for me while she was here over Thanksgiving-while I cooked! I thought it was a great plan.

The Front Door with a lighted wreath. I've always wanted one of these. This is our first year to have one.

A really great homemade cookie recipe I found online-great for decorating!
The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS
- 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
