My Mom, J. and step Dad, C. are on a trip to New York City right now. They go a couple of times a yeare to see shows, shop, eat at nice restaurants and just get away from the daily grind here. They love it-especially my Mom. Now my mom is also extremely crafty and good at making things look pretty with her hands. She enjoys decorating, cooking, entertaining and for that we call her "Martha J***." She loves Martha Ste*a**. So much so, she wrote her letters while she was in prison and likes to try her new ideas at home. I really think that part of my mom skipped a generation when she had me and it's all in my youngest daughter Gracie. That child notices things about decorating you wouldn't belive and she even helps my mom and me come up with some good ideas for our own decorating! Mom even taught me and the girls what a bone folder is by hearing it from Martha. Who out there knows what a bone folder is? Maybe those of you who like to do crafts and scrapbooking will know. First correct answer in the comments wins a prize! Anyway.....while on this trip to NY, Mom went into a Williams Sonoma store and learned that Miss Martha would be there the next day to sign copies of her newest cookbook. Well, Mom immediately changed her plans for that next day and was FIRST IN LINE at 9:00 am-just as the W-S store clerk suggested. A few other women came up soon after and they enjoyed sharing the reasons they love Martha. Mom had to wait 3 and half hours, but shortly before it was time "It's a G**d Thing" to appear, a woman asked Mom if she was a big Martha fan and Mom proceeded to tell her exactly how much she loves her and how much has learned from her and the next thing you know, the girl says she is a producer from Martha's daytime show and could she interview Mom on camera! Mom said No. I don't think so. I don't think I'd want to be on TV. HA!! Just Kidding! Mom said, "Well Sure!" The interview could be shown on the show Friday Nov 11th. Mom was finally able to meet and talk to Martha and tell her how thrilled she was to meet her and thank her for all the things she has learned from her and she signed her cookbook. Her name only-no special personal messages for the sake of time and maybe carpal tunnel. I know from experience that's NOT a good thing. Mom's still on cloud 9 and won't need to get on a plane to fly back home Sunday.
