Dulciana said that Operation Inasmuch sounded intriguing, so I'll write about it first.
It is a community wide project that was started by our church 10 years ago. Members of our church and others go out into the community 2 Saturdays a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. We help those who need it with things like yard work, house repairs, painting, roofing, construction work. There are also many projects going on in the church that day including making lunches for those who are out working, sewing dolls and the children's choirs go and sing at local nursing homes. This past Saturday was my first time being able to particpate and I helped paint the exterior of a house. We were there from 8:30-5:00 pm and I was extremely tired when it was finished, but it was a "good tired." I'm not much of a painter, but I watched and learned and did my part. I enjoyed being with other members of our church, some I knew and some I got to know. Mrs. W., the home owner, was extremely grateful for our work and thanked us many times at the end of the day. Usually it doesn't take that long, but some fascia boards had to be replaced on this house first, so that slowed down our painting process. It was a beautiful day. The former minister who started this will be speaking about it at the Baptist State Convention next month and he has invited our choir to come and sing for that part of the Convention. It is all based on Matthew 25:40 The King will reply, " I tell you the truth, whatever you dod for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." That's the NIV version. King James says Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
