No, I can't use the word Settled yet, but we are getting there, and definitely much further along than we were just a couple of weeks ago. The girls wan "The List" to be completely crossed off ASAP so that we can find our newest family member-a new puppy! We are all excited to get one, but a new puppy and wet cement for a new patio in the backyard don't really mix, now do they. We are leaning towards another Golden, but actually thinking male this time. We can't replace Sadie-not ever. When brainstorming names for the new pup over dinner one night last week, I suggested we think about people made famous by history that Joe loves so much and the name Winston Churchill popped into my head. Winston is definitely a contender, but we'll decide for sure after we meet him. It looks like the earliest the patio work can be started is the first week of September.
One of the reasons I don't feel completely settled yet is the fact we haven't found a new church home. We have visited churches and there are at least two that I feel could possibly be the right place for us. We're waiting for a clear answer from God on that. I'm praying it's a place where we can ALL serve and grow and learn. I'm also praying it leads to a good friend or two for all of us. I may never again be blessed with friends like I had in Abilene, but I do miss that kind of friendship and without a doubt, I believe in the power of prayer.
I have seen our prayers for Ellie answered in amazing ways and she is truly a whole new person now. She has started her own pet sitting business in our new neighborhood. I marvel at her talking to the adult owners of the pets, both in person and over the phone. God is so good. There is no need to use the words Selective Mutism when describing Ellie anymore. Even last year in 8th grade, I never had to tell her new teachers about it. Ellie later told her friends back in TX how wonderful it was to be treated like a "normal" student. Oh, what that did for this Mom's heart!
This past weekend we were able to spend time in one of my most favorite cities, Raleigh, NC. We attended a family wedding and also had brunch with my sweet voice teacher from college. It was the first time Ellie and Gracie were able to meet her.
Gracie is growing up so fast.
My Mom and me.
My sweet husband and me. Notice anything different? No more glasses. He had laser eye surgery in March and he's SO happy with the results!
Jack, Gracie, Ellie and Sam. Silly cousins.
That's me with my 90 year old Grandmother! Lord, please let me have her skin. :)
Mom and her two girls.
The whole family with one of my most favorite people in the world. She's a big part of the reason I "Sing for Joy."
I could end this post with a promise to write more often here, but it seems that just leads to the exact opposite, so I'll say that I've enjoyed writing this and hope it leads to more.....
This is such an awesome answer to a momma's prayers. I know Abilene was a pivotal marker in your life. I saw such awesome growth in you while you were here. I remember our first prayer team meeting. I am pretty sure we were at the Hamby's house. You were so open and honest that night. James 5, took place in that living room that night and you have not been the same since. I marvel at the mighty God we serve. Love you and your precious family!

I am thrilled to hear your fantastic news about Ellie. Wow! Praise God! Also, the church search is such a familiar issue for us - may God bless you soon with a wonderful answer to that question, and some good new friends.
Bless you,
Katherine
